YOU MISSED IT! The only opportunity of the year to hear Rev.Jack Harnish speak at an “Up North” outdoor lakeside chapel, the only time to ride the AuSable River Queen as a group of Christian men, and the only time to study a book that so closely mirrors our lives it was scary. I’m talking about the Men’s Retreat at Camp Nissokone Sept.13th and 14th in Oscoda. We had music, laughter, good food, fun, fellowship, a great location, new and old friends, worship, communion, a great speaker, (did I say good food yet?), and Christian life enrichment. Our topic was the book “Lessons from a Sheepdog” by Phillip Keller. This book was a blessedly short yet compelling read. Rev. Harnish deftly related the theme of the book to the life and times of King David. The book nudges and then pushes us toward God. Rev. Harnish portrayed God as a hunter and we are the hunted. I had never thought of it quite like that before Nissokone. It makes good sense. Adam tried to hide from God and in a sense every time we sin we are running from God. King David definitely disobeyed God’s commandments. It didn’t work for Adam or King David and doesn’t work for us either. So… what are you running from? Where do you think you can hide? Next year about this time why not just cave in to the Almighty, stop running and hiding. Come to the retreat, share your heart, and have a GOD time. Truly Blessed Jeff Senn Oscoda UMM
